Qualifying round of the All-Ukrainian competition sommelier at the restaurant «Steakhouse. Meat and wine».

March 10 at the restaurant «Steakhouse. Meat and wine» took place the qualifying round for the annual all-Ukrainian Sommelier Competition.

Association of Sommeliers of Ukraine was managing the competition. Simultaneously with the selection round in Odessa, the competition was held in Donetsk, Dnepropetrovsk, Kharkov and Kyiv. At this stage the contestants compete in a private mode of theoretical knowledge, responding to the 100 professional issues within 1,5 hours.

Following the selection of the theoretical competition, the winners from each region will battle in the semifinal and final in Kiev. In order to receive the honorary title of the best, sommeliers will demonstrate the following skills:
• supply of champagne
• supply of wine,
• remedy the wine list,
• identification drinks blind «
• Presentation and serving cigars.

The winner receives the title of «Best Sommelier of Ukraine 2009» and the challenge cup, which will be engraved with his name. Competition is crucial for the representative of Ukraine to participate in the contest «Best Sommelier of the World».
